Partners Building a Stronger Tomorrow

Partners Building a Stronger Tomorrow, located in north central Oklahoma, unites primary youth and family service agencies in a collaborative effort to improve and fill gaps in the local service system.

AmeriCorps members provide academic, social and behavioral enrichment activities for at-risk and under-achieving students. The enrichment activities revolve around safe neighborhoods and places for after school involvement. Members provide one-on-one support and follow-up for parents in need of reaching family services.

AmeriCorps members raise community awareness of problems that exist for young people in the area and recruit volunteers to assist with non-profit programs. All AmeriCorps positions are located within 20 miles of Ponca City.

AmeriCorps members may serve a term of service during a 10-12 month period. After successful completion of their service, members who are enrolled on or after September 1, 2010 will receive the following education award amounts for their respective term of service:

Full-time 1,700 hrs. $5,550

Half-time 900 hrs. $2,775

Quarter-time 450 hrs. $1,468

Minimum-time 300 hrs. $1,175

Education awards may be used to pay off qualified student loans or may be used at any Title IV school. Members have seven years to use their education award.

The Oklahoma Community Service Commission is a non-profit state commission whose primary purposes are to integrate, expand and sustain volunteer service initiatives across the state of Oklahoma as well as fund and administer AmeriCorps programs in Oklahoma.
