  >Okeene Public Schools

Serve 4 Success

Members will provide one-on-one and small group teacher directed assistance with classroom assignments and activities during the school day.  Members will assist or tutor students that are performing below their expected level.  Members will provide after school homework help and enrichment activities up to four days a week.  Members will provide summer enrichment programs during the month of June.  Partnering school districts include: Alva Public Schools, Calumet Public Schools, Canton Public Schools, Cashion Public Schools, Cimarron Public Schools, Fairview Public Schools, Geary Public Schools, Hennessey Public Schools, Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in Okarche, Kingfisher Public Schools, Lomega Public Schools, Okeene Public Schools, Ringwood Public Schools and Saints Peter and Paul Public Schools.  Up to thirty-four full and part time members serve August through June.  Eight to ten summer members serve May and June.

AmeriCorps members may serve a term of service during a 10-12 month period.  After successful completion of their service, members who are enrolled on or after September 1, 2010 will receive the following education award amounts for their respective term of service:

 

Full-time 1,700 hrs.         $5,350

Half-time   900 hrs.          $2,675

Quarter-time 450 hrs.       $1,415

Minimum-time 300 hrs.    $1,132

 

Education awards may be used to pay off qualified student loans or may be used at any Title IV school.  Members have seven years to use their education award.
