The Oklahoma Community Service Commission has funds available for
Oklahoma Serves AmeriCorps members. AmeriCorps members are citizens ages
17 and older who are provided with a living allowance and/or education
award during their term of service. The living allowance amount and the
education award are determined by the member’s term. After successful
completion of their 300, 900 or 1,700-hour term, an Oklahoma Serves
member will receive an education award of $1,000 for a 300-hour
position, $2,362.50 for a 900-hour position, or $4,725 for a 1,700-hour
position. 900 and 1,700-hour positions must be served within a twelve
month period. 300-hour positions must be served within a three month
period. Members may start September 1, 2008.
Host Site applicants
must be a 501(c)(3) or public agency and provide a minimum of the
following:
$500 cash match per 300-hour member, $3,000 cash match per 900-hour
member, or $5,000 cash match per 1,700-hour member. Host sites receive
a $10,000 grant award per 1,700-hour member, a $5,000 grant award per
900-hour member and a $1,500 grant award per 300-hour member. Service
activities must be focused on children and youth.
