School Readiness Program

Members will serve as Individual Development Plan (IDP) coaches in LDCAA’s 29 Head Start classrooms and 3 Early Head Start centers. One member will serve in each location. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, each member will work with Head Start/Early Head Start children on their IDP goals. While working with at-risk pre-school children, members will seek and encourage parental involvement within the Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms. Members will provide services in Choctaw, McCurtain and Pushmataha counties in southeast Oklahoma. Positions available are 32 half-time members. For information contact

AmeriCorps members may serve a term of service during a 10-12 month period. Terms of service and the education award amounts are:

Full-time 1,700 hrs. $4,725

Half-time 900 hrs. $2,362

Quarter-time 450 hrs. $1,250

Minimum-time 300 hrs. $1,000

Education awards may be used to pay off qualified student loans or may be used at any Title IV school. Members have seven years to use their education award.
