CIS Summer of Service Plus!

AmeriCorps members will serve as tutors in Ardmore elementary schools (pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade).

Students who receive tutoring through this program will be invited to attend a seven-week summer day camp.

Part-time members will join the year-round members to lead over 400 students at the summer camp in small group instruction and enrichment activities.

Certified teachers will offer instruction in math and reading while members will lead enrichment classes in art, dance, gymnastics, drama, physical education, sign language and family living. 4 full-time and 40 part-time positions.

AmeriCorps members may serve a term of service during a 10-12 month period. After successful completion of their service, members who are enrolled on or after September 1, 2010 will receive the following education award amounts for their respective term of service:

Full-time 1,700 hrs. $5,550

Half-time 900 hrs. $2,775

Quarter-time 450 hrs. $1,468

Minimum-time 300 hrs. $1,175

Education awards may be used to pay off qualified student loans or may be used at any Title IV school. Members have seven years to use their education award.
